| OK so I joined my school's bookclub today (Yay! ALways wanted to do that) and the book of choice was the first book of a trilogy called The Hunger Games. Has anyone read this? What do you think? Like, did you like it Please no spoilers for I'm only on chapter 3 xD | |

| 3 Girls at my work are currently reading the series. And all of them seem to like it a lot.
@RS, Suzanne Collins is the author. And i believe it's technically young adult science fiction.

@RS, Suzanne Collins is the author. And i believe it's technically young adult science fiction. Yeah, it's science fiction. I got further in the book since my last post, it's pretty good. I think I'll read the other two afterwards. Actually, someone in my 6th hour class (not in book club, btw) is reading the book too! And last time I checked, she was at around the same area as me, which was like somewhere between page 70 and 90. But I hadn't stopped reading since I got home a few hours ago, and I'm about halfway through. I'm so excited!!!!!

| I finished the series awhile ago and LOVED IT. I'm so happy to see a thread about it (and I just watched the new movie trailer...looks amazinggg). The only complaint I've heard about it - my fiance says the sentence structure is extremely childish. I disagree since a) it is actually a young adult book, b) it is in Katniss's voice and she is uneducated. I love the concepts throughout the series. Like why they take tributes, and stuff. I can't say more without spoilers. Okay, I have another complaint, come to think of it. The...romantic relationships bugged me. How can a girl be that dense? x.x | |

| GF listening to this on audiobook. I'm kindof confused by the actually Hunger Games themselves, but I assume based on the acclaim it gets better. | |

| Well, its possible the audiobook was confusing. Some books can be confusing to listen to but make sense reading. This might be the case here. | |

| I really enjoyed the first two books in this series. The third novel, Mockingjay, really let me down though. It felt like the author was sick of writing the story so she made some traumatic things occur seemingly in the blink of an eye. I still liked the series...just not the way it ended.

| I enjoyed the trilogy. The way it's written is simplistic yes, but the content is anything but. I know it's aimed at young adults but it deals with some tough issues. The way it ended... depressing but understandable. Yes, tragic (trying not to spoil it for anyone) but also hopeful. There was a sort-of "full-circle"/inevitability to it. I liked that it was easy to read and while the story premise isn't exactly unique (Battle Royale anyone?!) she put a good spin on it. | |

| Hey no need to apologise... It's not personal People have different tastes. I mean... look how many people rave about Twilight... I can complain 'til I'm blue in the face about how bad I think the writing is and how I think the whole "Edward/Bella" relationship provides young women with a very negative role model/image of what love should be... but it's not going to change the fact that they're popular ;-) As a complete aside... just want to say *love* the quote in your signature. Don't know who Dwight Schrute is but he rocks. (And I've climbed Mount Doom so that makes it doubly awesome!) | |
