| I'm a big fan of web comics, so I thought I'd start a thread for everyone to say what web comics they like, since I'm always looking for a good new web comic to read. Here's what I follow: Ctrl Alt Del = great web comic posted three times a week. It's dedicated to video games, and video game players particularly one very addicted and crazy gamer named Ethan, who is the main character. The characters are well balanced in nature, the individual comics on video games are hilarious, and the story lines that follow the characters can be equally as hilarious or even dramatic. Questionable Content = A great deal of intelligent humour, puns, and sassiness from its somewhat extensive character cast that is made up mostly of young women. A bit of indy music culture mixed in. A real good daily life comic that follows a bunch of weird and dysfunctional people in their own way. Updated every weekday. Least I Could Do = primarily follows a guy who is a womanizer with the heart and maturity of a 7 year old. If you dislike political correctness, you'll love this comic as it spits in the face of anything PC. It takes every opportunity to dance over the line of anything deemed 'wrong' or taboo, but in a brilliantly delivered manner. Lovers of Calvin and Hobbes would probably appreciate a great deal of humour. It's also gone through an evolution with three different styles of art, growing in sophistication. It's run by two guys, one doing the art and the other the writing. Updated every day of the week, no exceptions. Looking for Group = from the creators of LICD (above), its a comic parodying everything fantasy, D&D, and sort of MMORPG. It's updated twice a week on monday and thursdays, with a very intricate mythology and world built with all kinds of races and beings. It can be hilarious, but also a great and serious fantasy storyline in its own right. Those are the main ones I follow that I like best, but there are some others I like that I'll check up on periodically. Penny Arcade = another video game/ VG culture comic that's been around forever and can be very funny. Updated three days a week. VGcats = another video game comic with the characters as humanoid cats. Is downright hilarious but the guy that makes it is very unreliable and only posts a new comic once a month sometimes. And there's some new comics I just got into: Something Positive = very sarcastic, in a vicious and dark kind of way, and follows a group of friends struggling to make a living, most of whom are or were actors. Its been around quite a while... since 2002. Shortpacked = a comic based on action figures from comics, movies and shows. Pretty good, but not really one of the top tier comics in my mind. Sorcery 101 = based in the real world with all kinds of vampires, mages, werewolves and so on. Real neat story, interesting characters and some mixture mixed in. It is light hearted, but not really purely 'comedy' in the same kind of way that Looking for Group is but not as funny as LFG can be when it tries. | |

| Schlock Mercenary--A sci-fi tale that follows the adventures of a Tagon's Toughs, a group of space mercenaries. It has a rich storyline filled with romance, betrayal, war, humor, and plasma cannons. Has been updating every day for the past 9 years, and is still going strong.
XKCD--The number-one webcomic for geeks. Jokes about math, science, romance, and life in general, all done with stick figures. Fans of The Far Side will likely appreciate the quirky humor presented here. Updates three times a week.
Order of the Stick--another stickfigure comic, this time about a grup of adventurers living in a D&D-type world. With a compelling story and lots of pardoy, this is perhaps the best comic for fans of tabeltop games. If you play D&D and you haven't read this, then you're missing out. Currently updating twice a week.
Darths and Droids--What if the plot of Star Wars was actually a homebrewed campaign for a tabletop game? Well, it makes a bit more sense, for one. This comic also earns the distinction of managing to make Jar-Jar Binks a likeable character. Updates three times a week.

| Sluggy Freelance: A comic about a group of friends, plus a ferret, an alien, and a bunny (plus an extensive, though dwindiling, cast of supporting characters) in a world similar to but much weirder than our own. Downside: you pretty much have to start at the beginning, and it's over ten years old, updated daily.
For my money, the Holiday Wars is the best story arch.

| A new one... Wondermark. It uses old-fashioned black and white pictures of people and scenery/backgrounds and crops them together to form the comic. It is very random humour, without any cast of characters or plot. They can be hit or miss, but some of them are down right hilarious. Caution though, it can be quite offensive in its humour. | |

| I should probably add two of my new ones: Myth Adventures: Exactly what it says. This is the original adventure of Aahz, Skeev, and the rest as they battle to save the world. Helped by Aahz's knowledge, Skeev's powers, and Tananda's looks, and hampered by Aahz's ego, Skeev's bumbling, and Tananda's distraction. It's different from the book, but certainly worth the read. Bear Nuts: Imagine if the Care Bears were in a zoo. Now imagine if the Care Bears were drawn by someone with a sense of humor. Put those together, and you get Bear Nuts. The cast, including Gay, Letch, Tanked, Evil, Death, Prozac, Gimp, and others go about their daily lives in captivity, and learn to deal with such issues as psychosis, voodoo gone wrong, adiction, and how to properly cook a small child. | |

| Probably the best place for this. I saw the new xkcd comic today and couldn't stop laughing. Why? Because the project I'm on at work currently employs field biologists. And all I could think of was following one around. "The tortuous still hasn't moved." "Roger that. Holding fire until your signal." "WHAT?!" Upside: Funny as HELL. Downside: My PM would fire me on the spot. | |

| I read some of the above - Least I Could Do, Looking For Group (also Gutters which is by the same writer but with a collaboration of different artists/colourists. It's hit-and-miss, often I don't get some of the jokes as they're very specific to the comic book industry), XKCD...
Two others I read that haven't been mentioned are:
Girl Genius - a steampunk fantasy story which has some humour but is just a decent plot, cool characters and I love the art! It's black-and-white to begin with but they now have colour and it's just stunning.
P.H.D (Piled Higher and Deeper) - post-graduate study specific humour. I find it hilarious. Mostly because of how true to life it actually is.
