PostSubject: Redefining Fan Works   Mon May 25, 2009 11:57 pm

Obviously, this includes fan fiction and fan art.

There are a few things that I will not allow on these boards.

One thing I will not allow is fan fiction based on novels or short stories. It is true that sometimes authors do not mind if their works are being expanded upon by their fans. To me that does not matter. I find it disrepectful to the authors to be using their characters in such a manner. Fan fiction based on movies, TV shows, and such is a different beast, IMO, because they are works belonging to a much broader base.

Now, to get it out of the way, I will NOT allow any fan fiction based on the television show Legend of the Seeker. I am a moderator at Terry Goodkind's official website, and out of respect of the author who created the world of the Sword of Truth, I refuse to allow fan fiction based on his characters here, even if it is an extension of the show rather than the books.

NOTE: The details of this post may change at any time.
