| Even if they fail in their attempt to prevent a worse disaster, they are still heros in my book.
I just hope they are doing it out of a sense of patriotism or similar (ie: for their fellow man) and not because someone has ordered them they have to do it.

| As I understand it, this was completely voluntary. The majority of the technicians evacuated the plant, but this group chose to stay and do what they can to hold off the disaster. | |

| I know it doesn't make any sense but my eyes welled up with tears when i read the link and saw the quote from one of the men saying to his family "don't expect me to come home", and the mother crying. | |

| It makes perfect sense Carnage. These guys are making the ultimate sacrifice for their families, friends and countrymen. If that type of human spirit doesn't move a person in some way ... | |

| Agreed. The noble Last Stand is a powerful image. There's a reason it appears so often in stories around the world. These people exhibit traits we all wish we had. | |

| There are foreign exchange students here in the building I stay in that can't even focus on school right now because of the things they've found out from home. the few I know personally have been to consoling. its quite heartbreaking to see almost all the life drained out of them from the misery they feel. | |

Not just for Japan, but for everyone "down wind" of the weather patterns. If the containment of those reactors fails, the radiation will eventually reach the US and possibly Canada. If the weather patterns shift northward, even Alaska. This last concerns me personally because I have family on the Kenai Peninsula in southern Alaska. My mom assures me that they get most of their weather from Siberia, not Japan. But that leaves little to relieve the concern should those reactors go critical. | |

| I have some friends in Japan still, so this heroism seems even more special to me. All I can say is... wow. My thoughts and prayers are with them, that they'll be able to prevent anything from happening and can get out alive and healthy. | |
