The acclaimed author of the Redwall series of books aimed at children through to teenagers passed away on the evening of February 5th 2011.

Many of you probably wouldn't have heard of him but I grew up on his books from around the age of about 8/9 through to when I first picked up Wizards First Rule. He was essentially the author that introduced me to the fantasy genre and his books were extremely entertaining for a young boy!

Brian Jacques, you will be sorely missed!

Sad

This is sad news. I love the Redwall books. I haven't read them in ages (indeed, there are a few I still haven't bought--I need to rectify that) but I can still remember a lot of the poems. And I admit that occasionally when playing games, I imagine my character giving a cry of "Eulalia!" while charging into battle.

My heart goes out to his family. He will be sorely missed indeed.

Redwall has TV series written all over it. I'm actually kinda surprised Disney never snapped this one up.

Redwall was made into a bunch of cartoons actually, I have the VHS of it somewhere. Think it was just the Redwall book though, not sure. They did a pretty good job of it too, whoever did it.

Interesting. Guess I'll have to take a look at it. Still, a new TV series or even movie series in this day and age wouldn't surprise me; I suspect we'll see something eventually.

Very sad news indeed. I knew I had seen Redwall somewhere rather than reading it, so I obviously saw the cartoon at some time.

Aww! I just saw this! Sad day :'( I loved the Redwall books. He was a very prolific writer, too, and his style was excellent for a children's book writer.
