| Hi everyone. As I've looked around here I've seen many very familure "faces", many from the old PI. As alot of you may remember, my name is Kathy, I live in Kearns, Utah. That is a sunurb of Salt Lake City. I'm a pediatric nurse and work night shift. I've read for fun since I was in the first grade I believe. Right after See Spot Run. I read a wide variety of genres including Fantasy, Thriller, Sci Fi, Historical and even Westerns. However I refuse to read trashy romance novels, they are just lust in the dust with no substance. I came here mostly to read what you all have written, I trust Rainshadow to run a decent site. I do love his sense of humor. If you'd like to know more let me know. | |

| Glad you found you got in! Nice to have you aboard.
You mentioned you read thrillers. Have you ever read David Morrell? If you haven't, you must.
Welcome to the Guild. | |

| Next time I go B&N I will look for books by David Morrell, thank you for the suggestion, I like finding new authors who can tell a good story. RS, you know I appreciate your wit and wisdom. | |

| Nope. But I had to translate so that everyone would get it.
Plus, it's fun to say "wise-assery".

| I'm pretty sure we're all well versed enough in "rainshadow-speak" to know how to translate it ourselves | |

Is that the one that involves being kicked in the head by a donkey?

| Hi and welcome to the World Builders Guild!
A really good historical/fiction/fantasy is The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova.

| Historical fiction? I know a bunch.
Crystal Caves by Mary Stewart, is about the life of Merlin. It has a bit of a fantasy element to it as well.
Any book by Morgan Llelywyn (sp?) deals with historical events in Celtic History. Druids was about Caesar's conquest of Gaul, and there's another whose title escapes me thats about the medieval Irish king Brian Boru and the Battle of Clontarf against the Vikings. The Golden Mean (forget the author) is about Aristotle tutoring Alexander the Great when he's still a prince of Macedonia.

| The Historian is not what I would call light reading, fwiw, but I've heard good things. | |

| I've read The Historian and it is quite good. But yeah, definitely not light reading. | |

| I've read pretty much every thing Stephen King has written, I wouldn't call The Stand light reading either but I thought it was a good story. | |

I love Stephen King! It is one of my favorite all time books. Never read The Stand but I will eventually.
