Meh. Part of the reason I would have kept watching it was to keep up to date on it as it continued to progress, or I suppose I should say to see if it improved Razz

It being cancelled kind of takes that away.

Well, I am glad it's finally gone. I initially tried to enjoy it, but after the first couple episodes, I just couldn't. Every time I made the effort to watch it, I couldn't help but see everything they did to TG's vision.

Never seen the series, but:
-As Deano (I think) mentioned, sometimes fans can be so insistent, they can actually convince a studio to continue a production, even in a limited amount. The Jericho phenomenon was, frankly, amazing. The show itself was only decent, but it's fans were so dedicated, they eventually convinced the producers to wrap up the story in a way that mostly made sense. I don't know the details on LotS, but all hope is not necessarily lost.

-Movie rights: To the best of my knowledge, when a studio buys the rights to a book, they ONLY buy the rights to the book, not unwritten books with similar or the same characters. Perhaps specified future books that are planned by the author and their publisher. So if Goodkind writes a new book, under the heading SoT or otherwise, I'm fairly certain Disney will not own the film rights to it unless they specifically purchase them.

That's unusual and kind of annoying.

I thought so too when Cruze (a friend of Terry and a member of this site) told me the same thing.

Disney is good about getting what they want. And considering Mr. Goodkind wanted to branch out into different generas, it didn't surprise me that he'd sell the character rights. If the series was good, it would allow the series to grow with the books, and if it was bad he could simply not write any more of them. Strange, but not necessarily illogical.

Looks like the fan attempt to put an ad in Variety (I think?) is gaining ground, interested to see how that'll turn out. I'm gettin' tired of these NASCAR races making me have miss the new episodes though, hafta watch it off my brother's DVR again.
