By Cameron Published: 02/19/2010 02:29am
James Cameron’s production partner Jon Landau told MTV’s Splash Page that the filmmaker plans to make a film based on the Battle Angel Alita anime and manga after he finishes an Avatar sequel. Cameron has been talking about making the film again recently (see “Battle Angel Alita Is ‘Just Add Water’”), but exactly when had been in question.
Landau said that the new script by Laeta Kalogridis had incorporated all of the manga volumes rather than just the anime and a single volume, which had been the basis of Cameron’s past interest, and that had opened up a more rich world for a film. Landau also revealed that the property had originally been introduced to Cameron by Guillermo del Toro.
Landau said that the film would have to be named Alita: Battle Angel in order to keep Cameron’s string of films whose titles begin with “T” or “A” (Avatar, Titanic, Terminator, Aliens, etc.) intact. | well I can't say i'm well introduced to anime or manga to say much about this film but I would like to know if you found anything saying if it was also going to be produced in anime or live-action?
i can guess right now and say live-action for sure seeing as they are trying that a lot these days*dragonball, Avatar: the last airbender*(I think there was another but i can't recall for sure) I will try and find this anime when i have more time to do so.

| I have more faith in James Cameron to produce a quality work than any other who might want this property right now. I imagine he'll use much the same techniques that went into creating Avatar. | |

| Those that are currently rumored that I'm aware of:
Full Metal Panic! (Done right, it could be amazing. Done with Zac Efron... crazy stupid idea.)
Death Note (Supposed to possibly be Americanized... again with Zac Efron taking the lead. I won"t say this is as bad an idea, primarily because I could care less. There are a couple live action Death Note movies filmed in Japan, fwiw.)
Cowboy Bebop (This one is the furthest along and possibly a done deal. Keanu Reeves is taking on the role of Spike. A gamble but if he can pull off another Matrix-like performance it could turn out to be a brilliant decision. It's been rumored that Sam Jackson could be Jet Black, but I've never seen anything concrete.)
Blood: The Last Vampire was a pretty solid adaptation, and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, one of my favorite anime movies, is getting a live action treatment.

never knew about the Death Note movies...now I have a new search to look out for.
the Efron comments are killing me lol. he would definitely not fit these parts.

| Zac Efron is obviously Hollywood's idea of cashing in on the screaming teens of the world. Hell, what these people don't understand is if they do these films right, it doesn't matter who's in the roles. Here's a link to info on the Blood movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0806027/ | |
