| A glorious movie despite the title, but not for the faint of heart as there are more than a few explicit scenes of gore and violence. It more than makes up for it in the sheer ridiculousness of the humour portrayed, though it also has a very real and serious storyline to it and more than a couple real 'dark' parts. It's not just about Pitt and his group of "the Bastards" going into Nazi occupied France and killing all of them in as gruesome a fashion as they can (reminded me a lot of the Phantom armies in SoT), in fact they act as only part of the storyline. It's basically about a number of events and characters leading up to an assassination attempt against Hitler and many important Nazi officers and politicians at a film opening in Paris (a Nazi propaganda film). In fact there are two seperate attempts at the same thing going on at the same time, but neither of the two parties realize it. I was actually quite surprised at the movie. It was brilliantly funny as offered, but as I said had quite the dark and compelling storyline to it as well. As well, with the sole exception of the American "bastards" the vast majority of the film is either in German or French with subtitles (there are a few exceptions) which I thought was quite refreshing. All in all I would recommend the movie if you don't mind some quite graphic gore and violence. | |

| It's a Quenton Tarrantino film.
In other words: likely worth the watch.
Tarrantino said he probably killed all the Nazi films with this one. LOL

| I agree with Brian. It was awesome. I loved it. I felt one part in particular went a little long, but other then that, it was amazing.
And like the Brian mentioned, lots of subtitles. Which wasn't a problem for me. But, i also read fast. The subtitles moved quite fast.

| I saw it last night and enjoyed it. It was of course gruesome at times, but I expected that going into it. You don't go into a Tarantino film expecting hugs and puppy dogs.
The story was compelling, and there were a lot of funny lines. I actually went with me dad, and we kept quoting some of the best ones the whole way out of the theater.
I think its one of those movies that you will really like if you enjoy Tarantino films, but you won't like as much if you are not a fan.

Yeah, you go in expecting the person being hugged to come away with a bullet hole in the abdomen. Or worse.
