| Everybody hates cancer. I can't imagine that there's a single person out there who doesn't want all forms of cancer eradicated. But for most of us, the best we can do to help fight cancer is throw money at research teams and hope they figure something out. Which is helpful, but not very emotionally satisfying. Well now there's a way average Joes like us can actively participate in cancer research. Click to Cure, a Zooniverse project, has users look at slides taken from breast cancer patients and answer questions about the cancer cells shown. It's incredibly simple to do--if you can identify basic shapes, can see the difference between yellow and purple, and can count, you can do this project. It takes seconds to classify each image, but a few seconds spread out among thousands of people comes out to a huge step forward for cancer research. So if you find yourself with five minutes of free time, why not use it to help cure cancer? | |
