| It comes out today, at the bookstore I work at anyways. I'm picking up a copy to read, but I won't buy it yet (at work I can sign a book out as long as there's more than one copy. It works like a library in that sense).
Anyone else getting their hands on it?

| I ordered mine online from Chapters ... supposed to be shippped today, with delivery time of 2 - 4 days ... I'd have driven to the local store and bought it in person, but that's not an option right now so I'll have to wait a few days before i can read it | |

| I wound up reading the first 7 or so chapters when I was on break today. I gotta say, it's nice... it's like meeting old friends for the first time in a long while. So far it's moving a bit slow, but that only makes sense. I was a bit surprised that the story starts only one day after Cara and Benjamin's wedding. So far so good, or at least so far not bad | |

| Still waiting for my copy to arrive. I knew it started "immediately" after Confessor ended from reading various things on FB ... the only questions was How Immediately. Didn't know if it was hours, days or maybe a month. I'm glad to hear it starts the next day. Now I think I'll vacate this thread until I have the book in had ... don't want to accidently stumble upon any real spoilers | |

| Just ordered mine today, though Amazon's estimated delivery date is literally sometime between next Monday and Friday. Can't expect much for free shipping I guess. Looking forward to it though. | |

| Awesome!
I'm sorely tempted to pick up a copy while I am in Newmarket today, but I know there's no reason to have two copies of it right now ...

| I didn't even realise it came out today/yesterday... I won't be getting my hands on it for a while anyway. I don't know, I think I might be looking forward to reading Terry Pratchett's new book more than this one. | |

| I had originally preordered it, but bills forced me to have to stop that. Not enough money in my account. I'll buy it at Hastings tomorrow or, if lucky, Wal-Mart, where I'd get a 10% discount. I'm thinking they won't have a copy, though. | |

| I'm about half way through and ti is really reminding me of WFR & TotW ... it's a very fast paced book so far, not the "heavier" pace we encountered in the last half of the series. Not saying either is better or worse, just saying it's a thrilling read so far | |

| I can't wait to get my copy as well. I will have to wait and see how much I have after I shop for my school books, then I can collect my share of leisure reading books | |

| I have had mine pre-ordered from Amazon since last year and am still waiting for it. Last time I checked, it said it would be available on 18th August. So I'm waiting very impatiently at the moment. | |

| Don't bother. It's truly bad. Soul of the Fire bad. Pillars of Creation bad. Actually, its worse than both put together. | |

| Well, since I had that trouble, they supposedly refunded me. Yet I was able to download it today so I think I accidentally got it for free... The curiosity will kill me if I don't read it though. I liked Soul of Fire PoC was just bad because R+K weren't really in it and it somewhat lacked the continuity. So how is it similar, out of curiosity? | |

| To give you a different perspective, RC, I enjoyed it. But don't listen to others' opinions. Read it and form your own opinion about it. | |

| I'm reading it now. About half way through. I don't think its bad. But frankly, - Spoiler:
If Richard and Kahlan don't have a child soon... that is one of the reasons I actually started reading this series in the first place! I just wanted to see what would happen if they have a child. Like 11 books later, no child. Its killing me x.x

I consider this a ringing endorsement. :p

- Thanks again, everyone. Great seeing all of this excitement. And to confirm, yes, this book is the sequel to THE OMEN MACHINE and it will be printed by Tor. No firm release date yet, but it should be within a few months.
From Terry's Facebook page. As much as I want to find out what happens next, can't seem to find the excitement for this one just yet. Hopefully we'll get more details to help with that lack.

Soul of the Fire was one of my favorites. Okay, yes, the chicken thing was a bit obnoxious, but the rest of the book was extremely good. It demonstrated the futility of the type of political manuvering that dominates fantasy literature these days. It was basically Goodkind saying "Yes, I know this stuff is popular. It's also futile." It also laid the foundation for a lot of the rest of the series. Richard first started thinking of magic as art at that point, for example (or at least, first put words to it). Kahlan was beaten, probably making her barren. Richard went into the crisis of conscience that (for anyone who remembers) Cara's Fangirl used to say was the pinical of the series. As for Pillars of Creation, I enjoyed it. It was wildly different, and it was interesting to see that world through someone else's eyes. You got to see someone make the journy Nicci made, the journy Victor made. As for The Omen Machine, like I said before, characterization was all off. It's as if Goodkind's heart wasn't in it--as if he was just writing from one end of the story to the otherr, without pausing to occasionally look back. That's one reason I'm not overly excited about a new book: the last one damaged the characters I've come to love, and I don't want that to happen again.

| I enjoyed Pillars of Creation in its own right, but once the series was over I really questioned its purpose within the rest of the series. It seemed like Goodkind wrote two books (Pillars and Naked Empire) just for the sake of being able to have the POCs walk into the new world Richard created at the end.
He could have easily gone from Faith of the Fallen right to Chainfire and the series would not have been any worse off.
As for this new book, I'm not really excited about it at all but I'll read it when it comes out.
